I love books and reading.
When I was in high school, I was somewhat of a bookworm.
My face was buried in a book all the time.
I mastered the art of walking while reading and avoiding
giant uncoordinated football players who could knock little me down.
My sweater was white and I was too religious to get asked out to prom.
I sang in the choir, played in the band and somehow managed to be a yearbook editor.
Books were my escape.
I still love books (even though, I'm currently reading textbooks).
For a long time now, one of my favorite authors is Nicholas Sparks.
I was only thirteen when I read the notebook, such a long time ago now.
It was amazing to actually hear him talk about his experiences and his family.
He talked a lot about his personal experiences and how parts of them, have ended up being in his books.
It was a great reminder that the little things that bring us JOY in life,
can be part of a an amazing story.
But then again, it's only if we write them.
It gave me motivation to take a minute and write down the wonderful things in my life
and to keep writing on this little blog.
So in honor of Nicholas Sparks and just the fact that it's going to be summer soon . . .
(No more finals and I love reading on the beach or by the pool)
Let's have a giveaway!
Who would like . . .

A Chance to Die about Amy Carmichael is by far my all time favorite!
ReplyDeleteDo you follow Nathan's photography? He's very talented.
ReplyDeleteOH boy, Lisa, there are too many favorites that I don't think I could ever have a FAVORITE, and different books hit me hard at different times in my life. I absolutely loved CS Lewis's Narnia books, but my go to book for peace and understanding is The Book of Mormon.
ReplyDeleteI am a recent follower (as of yesterday) :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book of all time is These Is My Words by Nancy E Turner. I have read it over twenty times cover to cover and parts of it even more than that. I may be a little obsessed but it is awesome!
@Karen
ReplyDeleteCS Lewis' Narnia series was good, but he's much better known for Mere Christianity, and The Screwtape Letters. You should look into those!
"Where the Red Fern Grows" by Wilson Rawls is definitely my favorite book of all time. I've read it about 50 times, I swear. When I was 5 I got the book on tape and always had it playing in the car or my room (We moved cross country at that time so there was a lot of driving between Pittsburgh and Utah). I even had two frogs I named "Old Dan" and "Little Ann"
ReplyDeleteI love anything by Fancine Rivers. My fave is The Atonement Child. You must read it...sooooo good and inspiring. It will make you think differently about life.
ReplyDeleteI'm a happy follower. I love Nicholas Sparks to. The challenge of picking a favorite book is truelove an impossible one for me. I have oodles of favorites! I'm currently reading, heaven, untied and How to run a tight ship with so many loose cannons. Perhaps a new favorite will be found . Thank you for the giveaway. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteoops that should have said truly ( not true love not sure how that got in there)
ReplyDeleteI think I'm already following, but in case I wasn't, I followed again :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book, other than the Bible, is "The Help." It's a first time novel by Kathryn Stockett. LOVE IT!!!! Couldn't put it down.
Thanks for the shout out to NC. We could use your prayers right now.
Love, Karen
The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale is my all time FAVORITE book <3
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Nicholas Sparks! He's great. And I was totally the same way in high school: Nerd/bookworm! I asked the same question the last time I gave a away a book on my blog. I'd have to say Choosing to See by Mary Beth Chapman. (That was the book I gave away, too!)It's an AMAZING book. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your giveaway on my Plaid Punch FB page.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to pick my fave of all time because I'm not a huge book reader, but anything Dr. Seuss or Shel Silverstein is always fabulous to me.
I'm all ready a follower :) This is only one of his many that I haven't read yet and I'm so jealous you got to hear him speak at the U, that would have been a real treat. My favorite book of all time is... To Kill A Mockingbird, that may be cliche or too easy, but it's true. I read it in Jr. High and it's stuck with me ever since. I like to read it every now and then just because it's great story telling :)
ReplyDeleteJust became a follower.
ReplyDeleteI have to admitt I haven't been a fan of books until I read the "Stephanie Meyer" series. I loved all of them and now I love reading. This book sounds like one that I would love.
Thanks
Denine
I LOVE Little Women and Pride & Prejudice. It is a tie! :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Lis! I am following your blog and my favorite book over the last year or so is The Care and Feeding of Husbands by Dr. Laura. It helped me get my marriage off on a good start.
ReplyDeleteI heard this book was great! One of my favorite books is The Outliers, it is so interesting and motivational!
ReplyDeleteHard to say a favorite. Book of Mormon, and right now I'm reading several that I am really liking: 29 Gifts how a month of giving can change your life, Driven (Larry H Miller), and a few others. Like them all right now. Love reading. I'll be excited to see how you decorate your new place. You'll love having all that space!
ReplyDeleteOh, I have way too many favorites. But I must say that CS Lewis is my all time favorite author (as I saw with a few other commenters). I have always adored his Chronicles of Narnia and have read them dozens of times since I was a little girl. The Screwtape Letters is another favorite -- so good. The man is a writing genius.
ReplyDeleteI'll never forget the first time I read King of the Wind, either. Love me a good horse book. ;)
The list could go on, but I won't bore you. ;) Thanks for the chance-- here's crossing my fingers and hoping I finally win a contest! :)
I'm a new follower, thanks for posting this on Blog Frog : )
ReplyDeleteI LOVE reading but can you believe I've never read a Nicholas Sparks book or even seen one of the movies made from the books? I don't know why..
Anyhow, favorite book of all time is probably
"The Shack" just read Water for ELephants which was reallly good and am starting The Help...heading to the library though so maybe I'll get a Nicholas Sparks : )
Hi Lisa -

Fingers crossed for your giveaway!
Michael
I LOVE Nicholas Sparks books too!! One of my favorite's of his is The Lucky One. My most recent favorite book is The Help by Kathryn Stockett!
ReplyDeleteThe Life of Pi is one of my all time favorites but like may of the commentors, it is difficult to pick just one!
ReplyDeleteI follow you! I've never read anything by him but I've heard good things about his books. My favorite book of all time? "Les Miserable," but I hated the ending. Just don't read that far! "David Copperfield" is a classic for good reason. "Captivating" by John and Staci Eldridge is phenomenal!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book has got to be Anne of Green Gables. I'm a follower.
ReplyDeleteHi, new follower from your post on BlogFrog! This is an awesome giveaway, thanks so much for the opportunity to join in :) My favorite book of all time (although I agree this is a very hard and almost unfair question :p) is Gone with the Wind. I'm Southern born & bred (NC), but never actually read it till I ended up moving out west (CO). Reading it takes me back home, and as a Army Veteran Wife I can't read anything about any war without thinking of my own connection to it. Plus I think it's a great example of how characters can grown and be developed through the talent of a great writer.
ReplyDeleteNewest follower here! My favorite book is Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. I love Barnes and Nobles too...I actually love them so much the AH surprised me with a Nook while I was pregnant.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower! Fave book is "To Kill A Mockingbird"
