I've been watching the news and hearing about the devastation
with floods and tornados in the South.
Not to mention all the earthquakes in Japan.
Oh so sad.
But the hard part, is that we never know when it could happen to us.
Which is why, I find it very important to be prepared.
However, food storage is just not my cup of tea.
I guarantee you all that food we'd prepare to for an emergency would just sit there
and go bad and I'd forget about it and so if an emergency ever did happen, it would
be too gross to eat. Yuck!
I was recently introduced to the idea of freeze dried food.
Easy to store, just add water-they said.
They forgot to add,
-stores for 25 years (which means I can forget about it)
-great gourmet taste
-doesn't take up space
-inexpensive
-your kids can prepare it
Sounds good to me.
Plus, this is what athletes use.
I can see why.

You can find freeze dried foods here
and if you're like me and need a taste before you invest (highly recommend it)
you can sign up here.
There's tastings all over the country.
Honestly, think about this.
Your family needs to be prepared for the next disaster.
You'll sleep easier, knowing that you're ready for anything.
Peace of mind, priceless.
Note: This is fully my personal, honest opinion! :)
Let's all be prepared!
What a great post!! I live in Louisiana and we are pretty well versed in disaster preparedness. I've never tried this, though. Thanks for the great tips!
ReplyDeleteI love this post Lisa! I struggle with food storage too. My mom gave me some freeze dried food that the army uses in a big box that is similar to the one you mentioned. My step-mom gave me a huge bucket full of the same stuff that lasts 25 years as well last year. So, now I think I can forget about it and move on to having fun with my son!
ReplyDeleteAlthough, I am wondering what to do about water. How much water would my family need in an emergency? And what portable way is there that I could store it and retrieve it? Guess I'm not done yet! Chels
