Just a note

{source}
Awhile ago, I found a sweet message in my inbox from an old friend. We'd basically lost contact somewhere in the middle of high school, being part of different groups and saw each other at a few social engagements here and there. But never really connected again. We've grown up and changed. This person recently started a fabulous career and I was trying to finish up my own degree while already being married.

It's part of life that we went our separate ways, never really talking to one another even though we were such great friends at one point.

To my surprise the message in my inbox was a huge apology note explaining that the person was sorry we hadn't stayed in touch. The person also apologized for some of the things that happened in high school but I never held a grude or spoke ill of the person. In fact, I even hugged the person the last time I saw them at a party. I still considered us friends if anything.

Still, the note was invaluable. It made me want to reach out and be a better friend, a better person, a friend worth having. Completely inspiring and because of it, I promise to be just that.

The note probably took about five minutes to type or maybe even less.

Friends, can you spare an extra five minutes to reach out? I sure hope so. It may just change the receiver's life because it did mine.

It's never too late to ask someone to forgive you.
