Here are this week's Q and A's:
1. What is your blog about?
My blog is about life and finding joy in life. I fit under what they call the "lifestyle" category. I also write a lot about kindness and service projects.
2. Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging back in 2009 because it was a class final. How cool is that? It was pretty neat but the design on my very first blog was a little atrocious because I hadn't learned HTML at that point! Oh, that was back in the day! I first wrote about the best restaurants to go to in Salt Lake City. From there I started Joyful Jones as a way for my family to keep updated with my upcoming wedding. Then it turned into more about finding joy when I lost my baby. When I realized that my marriage was ending, I started writing Happy Joyful Day to keep up with my hobby of writing and to still find joy despite everything I have been through.
3. What's something your readers know about you?
Hmm. . . not sure! I would be curious to know what the readers I've never met think about me! I think they know that I love people and believe in kindness. I also hope they know that I don't ever give up even though things are rough.
4. What can't you live without?
Friends, family, chocolate, hot chocolate, warm blankets, my phone (yes, but true-- it has become my lifeline being so far away from home), this list could become long. . .
5. What inspires your blog posts?
Anything and everything that makes me smile, big or small. The other day I was walking around Rittenhouse Square and saw a yellow tree. It made me think about joy and what pictures I should capture to share with everyone.
6. What do you do when you feel uncreative?
Take a break. Take a break on everything and focus on me time. This most likely means taking a drive somewhere new and exploring. Before you know it, I'm back taking pictures and ready to write again.
7. How has blogging changed you?
I think that blogging reminds me who I am and how far I have come. It's really interesting to go back and look through old posts. I also believe that blogging has helped me stay positive through it all and that because I have goal to write about joy, I constantly am looking for it.
I also believe that without blogging, I wouldn't be motivated to take any pictures. I now take pictures all the time and think, "I need to write a blog post about this."
In a way, blogging is my journal.
8. What advice do you have for new bloggers?
Blog for YOU. It isn't about the numbers or the popularity. Blogging for most people is a hobby, an escape. That's it should remain to be, a space that's yours to be free.
9. What blogs inspire you?
The blogs that inspire me the most are still the same ones when I first started blogging so long ago now.
Here's a mini list:
NieNie Dialogues
Cup of Jo
Dandee Designs
E Tells Tales
Oh, Hello Friend
Simple As That
Anderson Family Crew
Today's Letters
