On Forgiveness

My sweet cat Heidi, would often sleep in my bed at night. I often had a hard time falling asleep when I went on vacation and even got married without her sleeping at my feet. But our relationship wasn't always serene.

You see, Heidi was a biter. She didn't have claws because my parents decided to de-claw her when she was still really little. Despite having no claws: she climbed trees, killed mice and birds, beat up the neighbors dog and managed to be queen cat. I could often be found taking her off the kitchen counter or someone asking me to move her off the sofa because she might just bite.

I had those little teeth marks on my wrist quite often.

My dad didn't understand how I still let her sleep in my bed every night without fail. He said that I was only person in the world whose cat would bite them and I'd still allow her to sleep in the most comfy spot. He noticed right away that even at a young age, I knew how to forgive.
The topic of forgiveness has been on my mind a lot lately with the decision to have Kevin in my life. Not only did it have to be my decision alone, but forgiveness had to come from both sides. I had made the majority of the mistakes and I needed to be forgiven.

I saw a tweet from sweet Danielle who asked, "What's your favorite part about forgiveness?" I answered, that it is a gift.

Yet, it is a gift that we have to ask for. It takes someone with courage, confidence and character to ask for forgiveness. Forgiveness is not for the weak hearted. Forgiveness is only for those who are strong.

The hardest part about forgiveness is that it has to go two ways. Just as we need to ask for it, the other person has to be willing to give it. It takes two.

There is beauty in forgiving someone or asking for forgiveness. Forgiveness is a miracle. When we forgive and forget broken bonds are mended, happiness is restored. Peace comes.

I am the happiest than I have been in years because forgiveness was shown and given. Who might you need to forgive?

3. And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery;
and when they had set her in the midst,

4. They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery.
in the very act.

5. Now Moses in the law commanded us,
that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?

6. This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him.
But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground,
as though he heard them not.

7. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them,
He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
