Tuesday Topics: Five Activities in my hometown

Even though I loved growing up in Bountiful, Utah-- this one had me stumped. All I could think about was all that snow and more snow that they've had this year. Since we could all make a list of things to do in the snow, I've only included one of those. The rest are Utah classics. Now that I'm living on the other side of the country in Philadelphia, these are things that I do when I go home visit.

1. Go skiing
This one is a given. I still want to go skiing every year. I missed last year and looks like I'll miss this year too. Maybe next? Funny thing about this, Kevin was born and raised in Utah. Yet, he doesn't know how to ski. Me? Well, I'm a Texan originally. My family moved to Utah when I was nine.

2. Go hear the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sing
The greatest instrument is said to be the human voice. I truly believe this. My dad has been singing in the choir now for almost 18 years. Where has the time gone? Here's one my of my favorite spirituals. If you're ever in Salt Lake City on a Sunday morning, you can hear them for free at the Tabernacle or you can be like me and watch the broadcast from just about anywhere.

3. Eat frozen custard at the one and only Nielsen's
Believe me, FC Toppers are meant to be eaten all year long. The Bountiful location happens to be the original and the best! That place brings back oh, so many memories. After any event, here's the place to be.

4. Walk around Thanksgiving Point (that is, if it's May)
There's this sweet lady who lives in Utah (I can't remember her name) but she loved gardens and so she decided to have her garden be a large one in Lehi, Utah to share with everyone. She named the garden Thanksgiving Point as to show a sign of Thanksgiving.

There are many different gardens to walk through and if you're lucky, you'll find a hidden scripture in each of the gardens. It is definitely a place to feel at peace and meditate.

5. Go visit Utah Museum of Fine Art
Now this place has the most happiest memories for me. I love art museum's and this one is Utah's finest.   The museum is where Kevin and I went on our first date, where he proposed and we had our wedding reception there. We were set up on a blind date and it was love at first sight.

What are your hometown favorites? I love exploring new places, so make sure to tell me in the comments below!

xoxo

  5. I do Yoga twice a week at the Recreational Center or Rec Center in Bountiful.Or do workout there twice a week. Right now I also attend Religion classes. We go to see plays/musical plays at the Centerpoint Theater in Centerville. Remember, we've done bowling also sometimes.
Go to the movies, go out to dinner, hear the Utah Symphony play, support the local high schools with their musical plays like The Little Mermaid and The Drowsy Chaperone. When it's spring...lots more to do.
