"What shall we give to the babe in the manager?
What shall we give to the beautiful boy?"
The words to this song have been in my thoughts as we've been walking around the city getting in the Christmas spirit. I have thought long and hard about what I want to give Jesus this year.
Or the question should be, what would He want me to do this season?
The thought came to mind that I haven't been reading my scriptures this year as much as I should have. What a great gift we have to have the words of the Savior in our hands! I have sadly not been taking advantage of this gift.
In order to show my appreciation for such a wonderful gift, I plan to read the entire Book of Mormon. If you don't know what that is, it is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Many people don't know that Christ visited America after He was resurrected. I invite you to read along with me this holiday season and learn more about the life of our Savior. You can request a free copy of the Book of Mormon here.

My loved scriptures. I've had them since I was nine and they were given to me at Christmas.

The scriptures, both the Bible and Book of Mormon, have greatly blessed my life in more ways than I could have ever thought possible. Reading scriptures together as a family has kept us together and reminded us to lead a virtuous life. The word of God is good, and He greatly blessed us when He sent his Son.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life."

I've been pondering similar questions, the priest at our parish (we're Roman Catholic) challenged us to make room for Christ this Advent and to give up something or take on a discipline to do that. I think these disciplines can make for a beautiful season. Blessings on you and your family!
