Help the Philippines

First, I'll apologize. I have been really sick and haven't been posting my usual. I've missed blogging and everything about it! I'm on the mend, though, and have a whole new line up of posts set to come out next week. :)

But I've broken my hiatus because, as many of you know, my mom's native land, the Philippines, needs our help. It has been devastating to see the images on the front of newspapers and on TV of how super typhoon Haiyan destroyed the lives and homes of so many Filipinos.

I want to do my part in helping and if you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you'll know that last weekend I was helping my aunt at a craft fair. I've decided to team up with her to help the Philippines.

My aunt Rebecca Pearson is a photographer, and for that particular craft fair, she had the brilliant idea of turning her photography into silk scarves.

Any one of these would make a wonderful Christmas present and such a great way to have a keepsake of New York. The scarves can be worn or displayed. A portion of the proceeds from each scarf will go to help the people in the Philippines through Gawad Kalinga, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of impoverished Filipinos (similar to Habitat for Humanity).

Wishing for warmer weather

My younger brother Jonathan Mark (a.k.a. Buddy) is currently serving a mission for our church 

in the Philippines and is loving it. 

He sent these pictures last night and it left me a little jealous.

His latest adventure has been giving garden tours of the Manila Philippines Temple.

Missionary buds. Mark is on the right. I'm so happy that he's wearing the orange tie bought and picked out by yours truly. It's definitely a mission tie because I bought it in Brazil while serving my own mission. Now, pay attention, short sleeves and Buddy is all nice and tan.

Now back to Utah.

Snow, ice, and gray. Hey Buddy, want to trade? 

I doubt it. 

However, thank goodness for hot chocolate, it'll get me through the rest of the winter.
