Tuesday Topics: Seven People I'd Like To Meet

Today's topic is definitely an interesting one! I'm excited to see what everyone comes up with and think of all the inspiring people in the world!

1. Michelle Obama

Our First Lady is amazing. Let's see, not only is she the mother of two but she took it upon herself to promote healthy eating, tackling childhood obesity and still fulfill her duties. Not to forget that she supports her husband every step of the way in some unforgettable looks (like this one from the Democratic Convention). Next to every great man is a great woman. This is definitely the case.

Reason I would like to meet her: I believe in healthy eating and would like her opinion on ideas that I have. Plus, wouldn't it be cool to say I met the First Lady?

2. Oprah
{source}
I grew up watching Oprah. No joke, every afternoon right before the evening news she was on from the time I was born to the time she ended her show. I love how she has inspired people all over the world through her interviews and charity work.

Reason I want to meet her: I would love to know who and what inspires her, since she inspires all of us.

3. Mitch Albom
{source}
Author of my favorite books Tuesdays with Morrie and Have A Little Faith. I've been a Mitch Albom fan for years and there hasn't been a book that I haven't liked yet by him. In fact, I bought his last book, The Time Keeper without knowing anything about it.

It was really good. Believe me, there will have to be a whole separate post about it.

I was over the moon when I heard Mitch Albom was going to be the speaker at graduation. My brother who has been reading his sports column for years was quite jealous. Now if only I could have met him there. . .

Reason why I want to meet him: I'd like to hear about his next story and get his advice on being a journalist. Plus, I'd like to tell him about my own Tuesdays with my favorite professor.

4. David Muir
{source}
David Muir is the ABC World News weekend anchor and has won the coveted Edward R. Murrow award for his coverage about the famine in Somalia. He was a lead correspondant during the presidential campaign as part of 'Your Voice, Your Vote' telling us the news about Mitt Romney. Muir is also the head of the Made in America team which is happens to be my favorite.

Why I want to meet him: I'm at the age now where most of my friends have given up on their journalism dreams. Granted, all of us studied and worked hard to get our degrees in journalism, but I don't know anyone who has made it. It would be nice to meet someone who made it happen and he seems to be closer to my age than anyone else in the news world (did I just admit my age though?). It would be neat to ask him about his first time in the news room and see if his college days were anything like mine.

5. David Brooks
{source}
Okay, I realize at this point I have reached geek mode on the journalism side of things. David Brooks is a New York Times-Op Ed Columnist. Without fail, Kevin and I read his column and have detailed discussions about it especially during the presidential election. Every time I talk about New York City Kevin mentions, "Wouldn't it be neat to run into David Brooks at a coffee shop?" Yeah, it would be my number one moment in New York City if that were to actually happen.

Why it would be great to meet him: My college professors often say that I'm way too opinionated. I'd like to meet someone else who is just as much (if not more) opinionated as I am. It would be neat to ask him where he gets his ideas from and if he's ever run into a dry spell.

6. Elizabeth from E Tells Tales
{source}
Elizabeth has been one of my favorite bloggers for years now over at E Tells Tales. I have followed her story and her blog through all the ups and downs. I still love it. A lot has changed since then, but the best part is that her heart and honest writing have not. She's been blogging during the whole month of January as one of her new years resolutions and then set a goal not to blog the whole month of February. Geez, February is now going to be depressing without her.

I want to meet Elizabeth because she helped me through two of the hardest times in my life by sending me a couple of e-mails. The first was when I miscarried and wrote about it on my blog. The second was when I wanted to quit blogging forever because of a horribly rude comment. I did end up shutting that blog down a little bit after that, but she gave me the courage to start fresh when I was ready. I'm sure we could have one awesome blate

7. Gabrielle Blair from Design Mom
{source}
I started reading Design Mom when it was a small blog. The ideas and crafts are still the same, still amazing things to bring design and motherhood together even though millions now read it. I love Gabrielle's style and how it seems she's always on a new adventure. This mother of five won't let anything stop her or let her down. She has also the creator of Kirsty and Alt Summit; which I dream of attending someday.

Reason why I want to meet her: Actually, it would be neat to spend full day with Gabrielle and simply see how she does it all. I can't imagine that it's always smooth sailing raising five children in France, running a large blog and heading off to conferences. It would be great to get some coaching from a blogger who has made it her job.

I'm interested, if you could meet anyone . . . who would it be?
