Around Here

My goodness, it has been awhile since I've done a post like this! There have been some amazing moments since moving to Philadelphia and being able to explore New York City.
My sweet friend Kelsey and I met up in NYC one rainy day. We explored every nook and cranny of MoMa which was absolutely fantastic. That same day, I found Chobani. You might see the yogurt at WalMart but they actually have a yogurt bar in SoHo which makes for an amazing light lunch. I have yet to try their yogurt from the grocery store, it was awesome to have fresh toppings-- best just to go back!

During the hurricane, my cousin and I stopped in Au Bon Pain. I fell in love with their pumpkins and large wooden tables.

Halloween was a lot of fun and yours truly answered the door to hand out candy. This year it was easier just to put on a shirt after a long day of work.  Although, I'm planning next year's costume already. I don't want to miss out again!

We had our first snowfall that didn't stay around. After Thanksgiving, I'll be ready for that white stuff to come back! The leaves have been gorgeous this year and the ones above are from my aunt's backyard.

One weekend while in NYC, I walked past Joy Burger Bar. I took the picture simply because it said joy. Now I want to try this place just because of the name. That same afternoon I walked over to Dwell Studio where the lovely Joanna Goddard was hosting a bake sale. I picked up several chocolate chip cookies to share with co-workers at work. They were amazing!

The Shake Shack is my favorite place to go to lunch. It's only a few blocks away which is dangerous. The last time I went, they gave me a coupon for some free custard if I promised to vote! No worries, I did mail my vote in and now have to go back to the Shake Shack to try some of their custard (oh darn).

One night, my friend Mike met up with me after work and we went to a snazzy little place called Continental. The food was good and dessert was the best part!

If there's one thing that I love about working on the 27th floor, it's the view. I love being able to look out and see beautiful Philadelphia.

Christmas is starting to sneak in! I can't believe that Thanksgiving is already coming next week. It's insane how time flies. The "real" Santa will be coming here soon! You can find my favorite holiday essential oil here

I'm slowly learning to dance again. I'll be honest, things have not been easy. But as Dicken's wrote, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times."

Finally, this is how we blog around here! I couldn't help but love this Dunkin Doughnuts cup with my favorite word, joy. May all of us continue to find joy no matter how tough times turn out to be!

Around Here, according to my iPhone

I am officially addicted to Instagram. You can follow me @joyfuljones.

-We made a Filipino cake dessert called Bibingka.
It has cottage cheese in the middle and it actually makes a great cake for breakfast.

-Kevin brought home some cotton candy after a hard day. It made me smile.

-One day after being cooped up in the house, we escaped to the Olive Garden for dinner.
Thanks for the giftcard mom and dad!

-Heidi loves to sunbathe in our living room.

-Tuscon sunrise.

-With starting a masters degree online, a new computer was in order.

-I'm getting my degree through Full Sail University, which I love.

-After rummaging through a room full of boxes, I finally found our Valentine's decorations.
-When you finally get a house after being in a teeny apartment, it's time to use all those fabulous wedding presents!
Kevin put together a chalkboard for our kitchen.

-Deseret sunset on an evening walk.

-Heidi sometimes hides under our bookshelf. I had no idea that she could fit under there.

-Our shadows.

-My after a nervous breakdown cupcakes. They made everything that much better.

-Beautiful sunrise with clouds, which we don't see very often.

Hope all is well with you!
Hugs and kisses!

Around here. . .

My documents for starting my grad degree
are due this week and there was something wrong with them.

It made me happy to know that the school has great tech support
but it took us a long time to find the answer.

So that's where I was yesterday.

However, this came in the mail.
I am pretty excited.

Over the weekend we headed out to Dillinger Days.
A step back into the 1930's at Tucson's Hotel Congress.
Behind here is my favorite Farmer's Market at Maynards

And the famous reenactment of John Dillinger bank robbery in Chicago,
leading up to their time in Tucson when the third floor of the Hotel Congress was burned.

I made a slew of baked goods. Mostly it was cookies, but mini cheesecakes are my favorite
and we made it special on Sunday. Oh they were good with strawberries on top.

Kevin even stepped in to help with the dough.
I think I'll keep him.  Wink. ;)

Last but not least, I opened this hot chocolate
from Silver Bean Coffee and it's definitely a favorite.

Hope you had a lovely weekend!

P.S. The blog design is underway!
I know the links in the nav bar aren't working yet and there's more to add.
I hope you like the changes so far!

This little girl has fun when she thinks I'm not looking.
I tried to make some Pinterest magic.
This cinnamon roll cake was good but needed a bit more sugar.
Miss Madi Sue out in the hall during church.
She and her sisters wore the cutest matching purple dresses.
